In an art world that increasingly seeks work with meaning, depth and resonance, McDonald’s art probes and cultivates the notion of art as revelation, bringing focus to the role of imagination in everyday perceptions and restoring a porosity between the imminent world and the transcendent other.
Jason McDonald was an international Graphic Designer and Creative Director for over 20 years. A long and personal exploration in spiritual practice and the nature of consciousness, has led him to additionally study brainwave states, neurobiology, classical philosophy, the energetic field (including 4 yrs intensive study in energetic practitionership and the bio-energetic field), Physics & Quantum field theory, Anthroposophy, Tibetan and Korean Buddhism and teachings from other Wisdom and Mystery Traditions.
His artistic practice integrates spiritual philosophy and contemporary art to advance the dialogue between the visual and metaphysical realms and as resource for personal and collective evolution.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My practice honours the invisible, the subtle atmospheres, the frequencies and energies that surround, permeate and inform us. I explore my interest and personal experiences in the nature of consciousness as well as drawing on the insights and subtle relational intimacies revelead in my work as an energetic and healing practitioner.
From this emerges a heightened perceptual sensitivity, an awareness attuned to what is unseen. My work seeks to give form to this subtle clarity, translating it into visual fields where the invisible becomes perceptible, and the energetic becomes experiential.
